Start Your X-Ray Career
X-ray technologists take x-rays and administer non-radioactive materials into patients' bloodstreams for medical problem-solving purposes. Some specialize in imaging technologies, such as computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
X-ray technologists are also referred to as radiographers and prepare patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure and removing items such as jewelry, which prevents x-rays from filming. After all the needed photographs are taken, they develop the film for doctors. Career advancing X-ray technologists may perform more complex imaging procedures such as fluoroscopies.
